Scope and Contents

Contains contact sheets and photograph prints depicting scenes of campus life, including students and their activities, university faculty, employees, and administration, leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as its sponsoring body, campus buildings and construction/improvements, events in the Marriott Center and campus in general, sports teams, different departments, other University properties like Aspen Grove, pageants, appearances of famous people and groups (e.g., Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Carpenters), international students and visitors, services, awards (including annual President's Appreciation Award recipients), rare items and collections, field trips, mission presidents and their wives, Commencement ceremonies and processions, oldest and youngest graduates for various years, and the library and Special Collections. Materials dated 1875 to 2001, with the bulk dated from 1970 to 2001.

The Brigham Young University News Bureau was established around 1952 and was responsible for overseeing university news publications. The unit later became the Brigham Young University Public Communications Department in 1978.
