Administrative History
The Office of Planning and Assessment (est. 1996) is an administrative unit at Brigham Young University.
Planning and Assessment was formed in 1996 as part of a merger of the offices of Institutional Research and Planning, and Institutional Studies. The unit is responsible for collecting and analyzing data used in assessment, conducting periodic reviews of academic units and educational support units, assisting in the resource planning process, and coordinating activities related to University accreditation. It also administers the office of Institutional Assessment and Analysis (previously the Office of Assessment). Directors have included Gerrit Gong (2001-2010) and James D. Gordon (2010- ).
