Brigham Young University property records compiled by the Office of General Counsel contain abstracts of title, indentures, water rights, deeds, and court proceedings. These documents detail various activities of Brigham Young University's property activities in Utah between 1871 to 1938.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from Office of General Counsel property records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.

Administrative History

The Brigham Young University Office of General Counsel represents BYU in all legal matters and provides legal counsel and services to all University departments and personnel. They provide services concerning litigation, document preparation, contract review, policy review, copyright and patent assistance, licensing, and legal research and opinions.
