Biographical History

Colleen Whitley (born 1940) was a college English instructor in Utah.

Colleen Keyes was born on July 6, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Brigham Loyd Keyes and Lorraine Larsen. She attended the University of Utah, receiving her bachelor's degree in 1962. She then worked as a public school teacher before continuing her education at Brigham Young University (BYU). In 1966 she joined the university faculty as a special instructor, and completed a master's degree the following year. She also married Tom G. Whitley in 1966.

During the course of her career at BYU, Whitley taught writing courses in the English Department. She was also involved in the development of sources in Honors Program and helped found the Publication Lab. She has also written a number of books and articles. Whitley retired from the university in 2005.
