Administrative History
The Program Bureau (1958-1978) organized nation and worldwide performances and tours for the performing groups on campus.
The Program Bureau, formerly called the Student Program Bureau, was formed in 1958 to facilitate the organization of tours for performing groups at BYU including the Letterman, Fieldhouse Frolics, Startime BYU, and 15. Chairman included John D. Burnett (1958), James H. Lawrence (1959-1973), Janie Thompson (1974-1976), and K. Newell Dayley (1976-1978).
Administrative History
The Office of Performance Scheduling (1978-1994) arranged tours for various performing groups at Brigham Young University.
The Office of Performance Scheduling was created in 1978 after the Program Bureau was reorganized. The organization was responsible for coordinating the booking, travel arrangements, supervision, and promotion for all official BYU groups that performed off-campus on state, national and international tour. In addition, the office served as a liaison with numerous government officials and other international sponsors. Groups under the Office of Performance Scheduling included Ballroom Dance Company, The Dancers' Company, Theatre Ballet, Chamber Orchestra, Lamanite Generation (Living Legends), Panoramic Steel, Synthesis, Vocal Point, and Young Ambassadors. Edward L. Blaser served as the director for the Office of Performance Scheduling through its entirety. The Office of Performance Scheduling became Performing Arts Management in 1994.

Performing Arts Management (1994- ) functions as the scheduling agent for performing groups on Brigham Young University campus.
Performing Arts Management was formed in 1994 to organize domestic and foreign tours for music and dance performing groups on campus. Currently groups include the Ballroom Dance Company, BYU Singers, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, Dancers' Company, Folk Music Ensemble, International Folk Dance Ensemble, Jazz Legacy, Jazz Voices, Living Legends, Men's Chorus, Philharmonic Orchestra, Synthesis, Theatre Ballet, Vocal Point, Wind Symphony, and Young Ambassadors. Directors for Performing Arts Management have included Edward L. Blaser (1994- ).
Representing the finest in the performing arts from Brigham Young University, Brigham Young University’s touring ensembles annually present concerts worldwide. They also perform for conventions, workshops, festivals, competitions, and other community outreach activities. Presenters include arts councils, civic clubs, schools, charitable and service organizations and private groups. Performing Arts Management is the managing agency for BYU’s performing companies and functions in professional as well as educational circles. The touring program typically reaches 140 cities in 20 countries annually. With more than 400 performances each year, these professional-level ensembles delight and uplift hundreds of thousands worldwide and appear before millions on foreign and domestic television.
