Each manuscript features Wade Holden, but contain variations on the story from the book published as Shadown on the Trail in 1946.

Scope and Contents This file contains a manuscript of The Rube, a Baseball Story, 87 pp., dating from between 1910 and 1940. THE RUBE was published in Success Magazine in October 1910 and other Rube stories were published in The National Post in 1911. Most of the stories also appear in the Red Headed Outfielder published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1920. This manuscript includes The Rube, The Rube's Waterloo, The Rube's Honeymoon, The Rube's Pennant, and Breaking into Fast Company.

This story features the character Tom Doan and is a short story adapted from The Thundering Herd. It was published as The Buffalo Hunter and Other Stories by Belmont Tower in 1978.

Note on the manuscript says: "from For Man magazine file," however it was published in Motor Boating in March 1934. One copy has pencil annotations and the other has ink annotations.

Scope and Contents This file contains a manuscript of Tarpon, the Silver King, 9 pp., dating from between 1900 and 1940. This story was originally titled The Leaping Tarpon and was published as such in Shield's Magazine in 1906. It was later published as a booklet.
