Letter from Hyde, Kanesville, Iowa, to Thomas L. Kane, Philadelphia, they received the post office applied for through Thomas L. Kane's help, to express their gratitude, they are naming the town Kanesville, Heywood and Kimball received the money from Thomas L. Kane, many in the camp getting ready to go west, he is building an office for the Frontier Guardian, his trunk sent from St. Louis stolen. Dated March 29, 1848.

Letter from Hyde, Kanesville, to Thomas L. Kane, Philadelphia, sends him a letter of attorney from Ann Mattson, gives Thomas L. Kane power of attorney in regards to her father's will, signed by witnesses Orson Hyde and Daniel MacKintosh, and Clerk of the District Court, James Sloan. Includes letter from Ann Mattson, Pottawatomie County, Iowa, to Thomas L. Kane, Philadelphia, explaining her circumstances and her father's will. Dated February 27, 1850.
