Letter from John K. Kane to William Mathiot saying that he had just been visited by two members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ezra T. Benson and J.C. Little, who asked for advice about the rights and interests of Joseph Sidwell. The letter also mentions Thomas Leiper Kane's confidential errand from the president to the Mormons. John gives his opinion about the Mormons and their present situation. Dated October 1, 1846.
