Scope and Contents
This collection consists of two series. The first series contains information about the Dept. of Instructional Science. Reports, evaluations, self-studies, accreditations, research articles, and missionary research data are included. The second series consists of oversized materials, namely audiocassettes and miscellaneous electronic equipment.

Conditions Governing Access
Restricted. Closed for 50 years from the date of creation of the records, and thereafter open to the public in accordance with the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Restriction Policy. Requests to access restricted materials in the University Archives should be submitted to the University Archivist.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from Department of Instructional Science records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.
Administrative History
Instructional Psychology and Technology is a department in the McKay School of Education. During the 1960s-1980s when these records were created, the department was known as the Dept. of Instructional Science. It is a branch of study concerned with understanding the ideas, principles, and theories related to the improvement of instruction. Instructional Psychology and Technology deals with identifying and implementing improvements in instruction, understanding the principles that govern these improvements. IP&T applies these principles to solve instructional problems which occur in educational settings, public schools and universities, government, church, military, business and industry.
