Student Academic and Advisement Services was created in 2001 at the termination of the Admissions and Records division. Leaders over the organization have included Dean Ford Stevenson (2001-2007) and executive director Norman Finlinson (2007- ). The organization provides assistance to students in areas of financial aid, housing, locker rentals, meal plans, parking, bus passes, health plans, scholarships, registration, employment, deferment, personal records, and the BYU signature card.
Administrative History Admissions and Records Office (1956-2001) provided services regarding enrollment for students on campus.

The Admissions and Records Office foremost determined student acceptance into the university, including registration, enrollment, and deferment concerns. The organization also provided services regarding the appeals processes, grade reports, commencement planning and execution, and review of scholarship applications. The responsibilities of the office were divided into eleven supervised areas. These included the Admissions Adviser Program, High School & Junior College Relations, Financial Aids, Admissions Office, Registrar, Evaluation—Transfer and Graduation, Data Collection and Analysis, Microfilm Services, Academic Advisement, and cooperating with the Educational Information and Guidance Center. The organization was under the direction of these deans: Bliss H. Crandal (1956-1959), Alma P. Burton (1959-1964), William R. Siddoway (1964-1972), Robert W. Spencer (1974-1991), Erlend D.
