Biographical History

Cheryl Coatney (1951- ) is convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Cheryl Coatney was born March 16, 1951 in Sacramento, California. She grew up in the Arden-Arcade community and attended Rio Americano High School. She graduated from American River College in Sacramento in 1971, receiving an associate degree in general science. In 1974, she received a bachelor of science in animal science from the University of California, Davis. At UC Davis, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 12, 1973. In 1977, she received an associate of science in nursing from Brigham Young University. Cheryl worked in the neurosurgical ward at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and many years thereafter with the elderly in skilled nursing facilities in the area. She played the string bass in college and in various musical organizations throughout her life. She has served in many LDS Church callings, most of them music-related. She has three children and four grandchildren.
