Handwritten diaries. Swain usually writes short daily entries in which he largely gives a summation of the weather. He also mentions many of the factors of life in Fayette, including a grasshopper plague in 1877 and visits by various General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
