Administrative History

The Women's Council of Provo (also known as the Women's Municipal Council of Provo) was organized in March 1920 as part of the Utah Federation of Women's Clubs. The organization consisted of various sections that held monthly meetings and elected individual officers. These sections included the Civic Section, the Literary Section, the Home Arts Section, the Music Section and the Alice B. Reynolds Section. The purpose of the organization was to further progressive or cultural movements and to support Provo educationally, commercially, financially, and industrially. The first president of the Women's Council of Provo was Mrs. C. E. Maw.
