Philip III letters
Scope and Contents
Handwritten transcripts of royal letters and certificates signed by Philip III and legalized by his secretaries. They consist largely of official orders concerning the military. Topics include execution orders for prisoners, rules and regulations for soldiers, the distribution of captured items, and specific instructions on weapons.

Biographical History
Philip III was King of Spain (1598-1621) from the house of Habsburg. He was active in supporting Catholic causes in Europe during his reign and fought numerous wars.
