John Ross letter, biography, and publication

Scope and Contents

Handwritten and signed letter, dated 24 July 1830, and addressed to Daniel Webster, the American politician in Boston, Massachusetts. Ross writes for support in the battle of the Cherokees in the courts of the United States. Also included is a carbon copy of a typewritten biography of Ross. With the collection is a printed excerpt form the United States congressional record, "Memorial of John Ross and Others: Delegates from the Cherokee Indians complaining of injuries done them and praying for redress, May 20, 1834." This item includes printed correspondence relating to the Cherokee appeals.
