Scope and Contents

Shows grocery and other purchases made by Oak City residents from 1889-1894. Loose sheets of paper, previously in the account book, are included in the collection including: list of delinquent taxes, May 1985; poem by Ellis R. Shipp; torn note from Caroline G. Dutoon[ ], 1987; Deseret News article about prohibition; return forms[ ]; "How Farmers Can Make Money" newspaper clipping; a written page about Sunday school and its superintendents, Brother Roper, Brother John W. Dutson, and Brother Joseph A. Lyman; a list of coordinates; a recipe for molasses candy; note about power and right of people to establish government; two Oak Creek Irrigation Company notes, 1892 and 1896.

Biographical note

A photocopied page found in the collection gives the following information about Oak City, 1879-1880: Oak City, thirty-five miles north of Fillmore, is supported by farmers, stock raisers and fruit growers.
