Typewritten research paper for a History 400 class taught by Gustive O. Larson in the Spring Semester of 1969 at Brigham Young University. Johnson writes about the three black men who accompanied the first Mormons into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. These men were Green Flake, Hark Lay, and Oscar Crosby.

Biographical History

Jeffery O. Johnson (born 1944) is an archivist in Utah.

Jeffery O. Johnson studied history as a student at Brigham Young University. After graduation he worked for the Historian's Office of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and later the Historical Department. He left Church employment to work for the State Archives, eventually becoming State Archivist.
