Scope and Contents
Typescript of a diary. Young kept his journal from 22 April 1918 to 13 May 1919 which was the time of his military service. Young was drafted into the United States Army and served with the 91st "Wild West" Division which landed in France in July 1918 and returned to the United States in April 1919. Young's entries are often lengthy and highly detailed. He describes his experiences in training and in combat and the various activities of the soldiers.

Biographical History
Mormon member of Company D, 362 Infantry, 91st Division of the United States Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I. He was also a grandson of the second president of the Mormon Church, Brigham Young (1801-1877).
