Biography of James Allred
Scope and Contents
Biography of James Allred, the author's father who was a High Priest in the Mormon Church, member of the Nauvoo Legion and one of the Prophet Joseph Smith's bodyguards. He helped to build the Nauvoo Temple and assisted in giving endowments. His wife, Elizabeth, made the first Temple garments under Joseph's direction. Includes a brief account of events surrounding the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph and his brother Hyrum, the trek across the plains to the Salt Lake Valley, and significant family events.
