Scope and Contents
This collection consists of an essay about Gallo-Roman economic practices and society in Artois in the sixth century. Guérvy gives a description of each class, its privileges and civil rights, if any, and its minutae of daily life. He describes various industries in some detail, as well as, the monetary system and politics.

Biographical History
L. Guérvy was a captain of the French Corps of Engineers, a businessman, and a member of the Archeological Society of Pas de Calais.
