Scope and Contents note

The first folder contains the journal of Charles John Singleton which accounts for his travels from 1866-1881. Singleton traveled from England to Australia, Mexico, the British Columbia, Panama, and across the North American Continent. The journal acccounts for conditions on his voyages, Singleton's reaction to different cultures, railroads, foods and the geography of different countries. The second folder contains loose items from the journal including a newspaper clipping, a souvenier, a pressed leaf, and a poem addressed to Singleton's sister.
