Scope and Contents note

Signed holograph letter from George A. Smith (writing from Salt Lake City) to Hon. John F. Kinney. July 1, 1964. 1 leaf. The letter discusses postal arrangements. The newspapers have recently been stopped at St. Joseph and are not reaching Salt Lake City. Thomas Bullock recently sent for some books for the Seventies Library, but they have not arrived (it’s been almost a month). David Calder has sent for music books, which have not arrived either. The gardener’s club and others are also waiting for important shipments. These items, which were supposed to be delivered by mail, were ordered before the new regulations were passed. Smith says, “In this territory, no law is in force until published.”

A check, 1873, from Overland Freight Line to “Ourselves” for $57. To: J. M. McKnight Co. (Fort Shaw, Montana). Signed by E. G. Mackay McCullon.

An expense bill, 1873, to Utah Northern Railroad Company for transporting peaches, cider, pears, apples and apricots. Signed by K. Jorgenson.
