Scope and Contents note

There are two volumes of Levi Garrett Leatham’s British mission journals.

Volume 1: May 4, 1913 - September 25, 1914. Black soft-cover book, 6.25 by 7.25 inches.

Volume 2: September 26, 1914 - May 1, 1915.

Black hardback Minute Book with red corners and binding, 7 by 9 inches. The alphabetic index pages in the front of book are blank. 93 pages have journal entries, last 120 pages are blank. Leatham quit his job as a “washer” in St. Anthony, Idaho, on May 5, 1913, to leave for his mission. He received his temple ordinances in Logan, Utah. He took a steamship from Montreal, Canada, to Liverpool, England; he arrived on May 30. He met President Bension of the European mission and Elder Brookbank, editor of the Millenial Star. He carefully recorded the names of people he taught, administered to and dined with. Some surnames of missionaries he served with were Powell, Woolley, Blake, Flitton, Elmer, Broadhead, Wilson, and Edwards. He traveled by bicycle and foot. He spent a lot of time in Bristol but mentioned a few other cities such as Pontypool, Abergavenmy, and Balenavon. He visited the Raglan Castle. On March 19, 1915, he boarded the ship in Liverpool and arrived in Montreal on March 29, 1915.

Biographical History

Levi Garrett Leatham (1890-1967) married Mary Ivie Rose and had eight children.

Levi Garrett Leatham was born to Robert Alexander Steele Leatham and Rachael Currie Garrett on November 8, 1890, in Wellsville, Cache, Utah. He married Mary Ivie Rose on April 5, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had eight children: Calvin Levi, Arnold Rex, Vera Rose, Marie and Rulon James, and three who were recorded as still living in 2007. He died in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho, on February 17, 1967.
