Franklin D. Roosevelt papers
Scope and Contents
Two typewritten and signed letters and one signed presidential pardon. One letter is dated September 21, 1940 and is addressed to Ralph L. Carr, Governor of Colorado. The item is concerned with the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940. Roosevelt wants each state to establish its Selective Service System as soon as possible and requests Carr's full support in this effort in Colorado. The other letter os dated Sept. 26, 1932 and is addressed to W. E. Eisele of Edgewater, Colorado. Roosevelt thanks Eisele for the poem he submitted to be used in Roosevelt's campaign for the presidency. The presidential pardon is dated June 12, 1937 and frees William F. Leaman who was convicted of bank robbery in California.
