Scope and Contents

Business records of Kenneth Dale Wells' Family Foundation of America. Includes an autobiography and biographical material of Wells and his wife Ruth, speeches, photographs, professional files, retirement papers, and extensive research files on individuals. Professional files include meeting minutes, reports, project files, publicity , and correspondence. Also includes some material on Freedoms Foundation. Largely focuses on the international activities of the Family Foundation. Central American civil warfare, effects of land mines on children, orphanages, artificial limbs. Wells worked in Guatemala and El Salvador. He worked with Jose Napoleon Duarte to establish and orphanage in El Salvador.

Biographical / Historical

Oversaw employer-employee realations for Union Oil, 1939-1949. Founded Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, 1949, served as chairman of the board, built the foundation's campus, and worked closely with Dwight D. Eisenhower. Retiree, 1970. Founded Family Foundation after retirement. Through it he and his wife Ruth worked with schools and orphanages in El Salvador.
