Biographical History

Leonard M. Haynie (1893-1973) was a Mormon lawyer and businessman in Colorado.

Leonard Marion Haynie was born on May 12, 1893 in Manassa, Colorado to Robert Milligan Haynie and Lydia Belinda Stover. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Mormon mission in England from 1911 to 1913. After his return he attended Brigham Young University, and then returned home to work in his father's hardware store. On October 4, 1916 he married Hazel Gertrude Mortensen in the Salt Lake Temple, and they had four children. In 1919 he began his studies at the Denver School of Law, and graduated in 1922 and was admitted to the Colorado Bar. He and his family then ran the Haynie Harware Company for the next ten years. In 1929 he was appointed as district attorney in Conejos County. Haynie died on April 11, 1973 in Alamosa, Colorado.

Biographical History

Hazel Gertrude Mortensen Haynie (1898-1998) was born January 9, 1898 in Eastdale, Colorado. She married her husband in Salt Lake City, Utah in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children, Elwood (1917), LaRue (1920), Louise (1923), and Delph (1927). Hazel died April 5, 1998.
