Biographical / Historical

L. Grant Shields received his BA in Music, 1943-1949, served as Student Body president, 1945-49, and earned his MA, and PH.D. in Religious Education from Brigham Young University. Shields also taught Music at Brigham Young High and Nebo School District, 1953-1957, taught Seminary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mesa and Tempe, Arizona, 1957-1961, and in Tooele, Utah, 1961-1967. Taught seminary in Provo, Utah and Religion at BYU, 1967-1987. Also served on the BYU High Counsel and as Bishop of a BYU ward, 1980-1983.
