Biographical History
Ruby Leona Nelson, known as Leona, was born on September 19, 1916 in Elberta, Utah to Conrad L. Nelson and Ruby Sarah Roberts. Raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was baptized in 1925. She completed high school at Brigham Young High School in Provo, Utah, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1937. In 1938, Nelson married Marion J. Olsen in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two children.
After her marriage, Olsen lived in Provo, Utah. Later the family relocated to San Gabriel, California and Hawaii before they returned to Provo in retirement. During this time, Olsen was active in the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and served in various callings in the Church.
Leona N. Olsen passed away on July 22, 1996 in Provo, Utah.

Materials were passed from Leona N. Olsen to her son, Phillip Olsen. Following his death in 2016, materials were donated to the repository on his behalf by Merilyn Olsen in 2020.
