Custodial History

Item found in the home of Thomas Copley in Coalville, Utah, when it was torn down. The album was then given to the Coalville Museum, who subsequently gave the album to the donor, Clara C. Shafer. It was originally believed that these photographs were of the Copley family. But further research into the identifications on the verso of some of these photographs, and the location of the various studios where they originated, points to these being a collection of photographs by a Will Hansen who was a missionary in the Swiss and German Mission in the late 1880s. Clara C. Shafer donated the materials to Brigham Young University on July 25, 2018.
