Biographical / Historical

Ruth Rose (1896-1978) was an American screenwriter.

Ruth Rose was a writer who worked on several films in the 1930s and the 1940s, most famously the original 1933 classic King Kong. She was born to a playwright and acted onstage from a young age. In 1926 she met her husband, Ernest B. Schoedsack, on an expedition in which she worked as historian and he was cinematographer. They were married and she proceeded to join Schoedsack and his partner, Merian C. Cooper, working on Chang, King Kong, Son of Kong, and other films.

This copy was created during filming because "Jamboree" was the temporary filming title used to prevent curious onlookers to the set. It is not a final draft. It was purchased from Clouds Hill Books in 2017.
