Contains a transcription of George B. Bailey's journal which describes life in Salt Lake Valley and related problems with the United States government in 1856-1857, and gives genealogical data on the Bailey and Young families. Also included are copies of photographs of the Bailey home in Utah and the Bailey family. Materials are dated approximately 2011.

Biographical History

Jeffrey D. Mahas (1986- ) is a research assistant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jeffrey D. Mahas was born in 1986 to Elizabeth Mahas. He received a Bachelor's degree in history from Brigham Young University and worked in Special Collections as collections manager. He currently is a research assistant for the church and specializes in the Nauvoo period. He currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
