Administrative History

The Department of Political Science (1982- ) is an instructional unit at Brigham Young University.

The Department of Political Science was established in a reorganization of the earlier Department of Government in 1982, and is part of the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences. The unit provides student instruction in the areas of political science, public policy, and justice administration. Department chairs of political science have included F. Lamond Tullis (1982-1984), Dennis L. Thompson (1984-1990), Stan A. Taylor (1990-1993), David B. Magleby (1993-1999), Kelly Patterson (1999-2005), Raymond V. Christensen (2005-2008), and Darren G. Hawkins (2008- ).
