Biographical / Historical

Jim Tazoi (1919-2007) was a Japanese American who was relocated to Poston, Arizona and then was allowed to served on the European front during WWII.

Jim Tazoi was born August 28, 1919 in Garland, Utah. He enlisted in the US Army during his studies at Utah State University. After Pearl Harbor he was not initially allowed to fight because of his ethnicity. Following US policy change he was allowed to served on the European front as a Radioman for the 3rd Battalion, in the 442nd Regiment. Jim married Kimiko Yagi on January 15, 1948. She was stationed at a relocation facility in Poston, Arizona during WWII. He died on March 2, 2007 in Perry, Utah.

Kimiko Yagi Tazoi (1922-2012) was relocated to an internment camp in Arizona during WWII.

Kimiko Yagi Tazoi was born on June 27, 1922 in Kerman, California. Her family was sent to an internment camp during WWII in Poston, Arizona. Following the war her family made its way to Utah in the search of employment. In Utah Kimiko met and married Jim Tazoi, who had served in the military in Europe during WWII. She died on July 7, 2012 in Garland, Utah.
