Biography
Henry Maiben (1819-1883) was an Early Mormon Pioneer, artist, lyricist, actor, and dance master.
Henry Maiben was born on July 6, 1819, in Brighton, England, to parents William and Catherine Williams Cater Maiben. Henry worked with his father's business as coach maker/ painter and was educated at Eton and Oxford Colleges. He married Caronline Penn on December 18, 1845, in St. Geroge, Middlesex, England, and together they had 5 children. They were baptized into the LDS Church in 1851 and came to America in 1853, settling in Salt Lake City. He also married Flora Louisa Maddison Long on July 20, 1855 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and together had 11 children, plus Henry adopted Flora's first child and raised him as his own. Henry was a lead actor in the old Salt Lake Dramatic Company, a poet, lyricist, dance master, and painter. Maiben died on October 10, 1883 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
