Scope and Contents
This collection contains twenty eight 11 x 14 enlargements of photographs by John B. Fairbanks. The photographs are of Benjamin Cluff, streets and buildings in Provo, New York Harbor, his family members, and members of the Central American Expedition. Also in the collection are forty eight 11 x 14 enlargements of photographs of sculptures created by Avard T. Fairbanks. The sculptures are of a variety of subjects, including Brigham Young, Joseph Smith, Abraham Lincoln, and the pioneers.

Biographical / Historical
John B. Fairbanks (1855-1940) was the official photographer of the Benjamin Cluff Expedition to Mexico from 1901 to 1903. He also painted murals in the St. George, Salt Lake, and Mesa Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was the father of Avard T. Fairbanks. Avard T. Fairbanks (1897-1987) was a Mormon sculptor and Dean of Fine Arts at the University of Utah.
