 Collection — Box: 82
Identifier: MSS 3088

Scope and Contents

Contains a collection of cassette tapes, videotapes, newspaper and magazine articles, and webpages that are all related in some way to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Materials provide an insight into the Church in popular media. Included in the collection are recordings from various organizations and publications that are anti-Mormon in nature, or intellectually exploratory of Church doctrine. Many of the recordings come from the Sunstone Symposium and various Utah radio channels. The recordings cover a broad range of controversial issues inside and outside of the Church, including gay rights, polygamy, racism in the Church, feminism, tolerance in the Church, free speech, issues of church and state, cultism, early Latter-day Saint history, and the Church hierarchy. Some of the material features or is about Steven Mayfield himself, including correspondence between Steven and several anti-Mormon organizations or individuals. Materials date from 1950 to 2014.
