Biographical / Historical
Howard Nelson was born Howard Deon Nelson on January 16, 1940, to Veda Amanda Pearce Nelson and Vaughn Stanford Nelson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His father was a rail worker. Howard attended school at Rigby High School, this being the extent of his education. Howard graduated in 1959 and began to work on railways following in the footsteps of his father. He joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Germany. Howard married his wife Connie Jean Phillips on April 10, 1965, and together they had 6 children. He and his family relocated to Ogden, Utah, in the 1970s. He worked for the Union Pacific Railway for 35 years. Howard died on November 23, 2021, in Ogden, Utah.
