Scope and Contents

The collection contains Mark Philbrick's photographs of the Harold B. Lee Library groundbreaking ceremony at Brigham Young University Campus, which took place September 20, 1996. Included are photos of the journey to the groundbreaking ceremony, the entire ceremony, close-ups of the speakers and audience, the actual groundbreaking, and close-ups of the First Presidency and others with shovels in hand. There are also photos of a luncheon held in honor of the event, and Presidents Hinckley's address there. President Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and James E. Faust were all in attendance.
