General Note
Letter to "Beloved in the Lord," (Sally Phelps), written in the hand of William Wines Phelps, dated September 9, 1835. Discusses the letter sent from the high councils to the elders and church in Clay County, addressed to Hezekiah Peck, as containing good instruction; gives instruction to his wife and tells her the duty of man--"Man was created in the beginning to dress the earth to multiply his species; to honor God, and enjoy his presence forever." The woman was created for the man--celibacy is not tolerated by the commandments and neither is fornication--if man honors God, and woman honors her husband, then peace will reign.
