Explores various family traditions associated with the celebration of Pioneer Day (July 24th) in Utah. Explains the importance of families in the belief of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which many Utah families are members of. Describes how family customs promote family unity. Mentions community involvement in the celebration of Pioneer Day. Asserts that the reason most families celebrate the holiday is not religious loyalty or to study the pioneers as much as it is to bring their own families closer together. Includes interviews that describe specific family Pioneer Day traditions. Created by Amy Carpenter while she was enrolled in Jill Terry Rudy's English 392 class during Fall Semester 2003.
