Contains legends about out-of-body experiences. Items were collected by students in folklore classes at Brigham Young University, Utah State University, and the University of Utah from 1956 to 2001. Most of the items are typewritten, but a few of the older items are handwritten. Many of the items contain a description of how, when, and where they were collected as well as explanations of social and cultural contexts.

Arranged in three subseries: 1. Collection of out-of-body experiences wherein the subject is offered the choice to return to his or her body or requests to do so, 1961-1970, April 8, 1984, January 22, 2001. 2. Collection of out-of-body experiences wherein the subject is told by spirits to return to life, 1956-1973. 3. Collection of out-of-body experiences wherein the subject learns of approaching death while in the spirit world, 1961-1968.
