O. B. Huntington's journal, 1856-1857
Scope and Contents
Diary written by Oliver Boardman Huntington between September 1856 and December 1857. Entries describe a journey to Grantsville, Utah, his participation in Church service and the reformation, joining a relief party for handcart pioneers, his marriage to Elvira Stesen, travels to Carson Valley, Nevada to bring in the Mormon settlers, his leadership in the Nauvoo Legion, and the arrival of the Utah Expedition. Includes references to Abraham Smoot Wilford Woodruff, Heber C. Kimball, Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and Parley P. Pratt.

Cover made of hard cardboard covered with a reddish fabric. Handwritten in ink on the cover is the inscription "Book 12," a diamond-shaped, indented pattern decorates the bottom right-hand corner, and the back cover reads, in gold gilt letters, "Abstrac of the Seventh Cen." Pages made of white paper lined lightly in blue. Entries written in black ink, faded script.
