Administrative History

The Rock Canyon Water Company was originally known as the Rock Canyon Irrigation Company. The name was changed in the early 1900s. In the 1970s and early 1980s Provo City took over the water rights and bought out the company.

Administrative History

The Rock Canyon Irrigation Company was formed April 21, 1881 by men who owned land near the mouth of Rock Canyon in Provo, Utah. They met for the purpose of consolidating their water rights and forming an irrigation company. The purpose of the company was to distribute available water in an orderly manner, to increase the flow of water, and to lengthen the irrigation season. In the early 1900s the name was changed to Rock Canyon Water Company.
