Scope and Contents
Transcript by Fr. Ramírez de Utrilla in 1744 from Anleo's orgininal manuscript, which was at that time in the possession of Fr. Antonio Betancur. The following note is on ff. 65v-66: "Este arte de lengua quiché fue compuesto por N.M.R.Pe.Fr. Bartolomé Anleo, cuyo original tuvo N.M.P.Fr. Antonio Melian de Betancur, y su P.M.R. me lo dona a mi Fr. Antonio Ramírez de Utrilla, de cuyo original fue traslado este de mi mano, y le acabé en veinte y sies de agosto, en el pueblo de N.S.P. San Francisco Sanahachel [i.e., Panajachel], año de 1744." A copy of this transcript was made by E.G. Squier and later Berendt made a copy from Squier.
