On the other side in very faint pencil in Tom’s handwriting
...
I suspect this was a draft for his trail diary. The entry seems to have been made July 27 in Florence. Perhaps he had taken the financial records as scratch paper. A similar financial note dated August 7, 1858 has more pencil handwriting on the reverse. I think these may a draft for a note in Tom’s journal for June 27, 1862."
