Scope and Contents

Contains letters and photo prints from Alvin Fielding Smith to his wife Amelia Atkins Smith, or "Millie," and his daugher Ruth, or "Ruthie." Smith writes from London, England, where he served as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to his family in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his letters, he includes daily mission affairs, reference to correspondence with other family and acquaintances, and outings with members of the Church. He often mentions meetings and outings with President and Sister Grant, including stories about their American 4th of July celebration. He hints at severe stress and repeated illness, and often refers to the photographs of his family as a comfort. Anecdotes of his and his companions' mission exploits are included. Dated July 5, 1905 - July 27, 1905.
