Barney Loundes letter to James Oakey, date of production not identified
Scope and Contents
A letter written by Barney Loundes in Derby, England to James Oakey in Paris, Idaho. Barney is married to James' aunt Lydia, who too care of his father, James Oakey Sr. in his senescence. Barney, who is not LDS, but sympathetic and with Mormon friends in Derby, took in James Sr., who was unable to emigrate with the family after he became largely blind and deaf. He is responding to a letter from James after being out of touch ever since James went to Utah. Undated but probably written shortly after James Oakey Sr.'s death in April 1873.
