Letter from Thomas L. Kane to John M. Bernhisel, sending Bernhisel a draft of letter intended for Millard Fillmore and a resolution for the House. He says that [Jedediah M.] Grant has informed him about polygamy, and although that knowledge has given Kane "deep pain and humiliation", he still wants to help them. The draft of the letter to Millard Fillmore from Thomas L. Kane, asks for a Congressional committee to investigate the charges against the Mormons that are a "matter of public concern." On the back side there is a resolution asking that the charges made by the officers of Utah be referred to a special committee. Dated December 29, 1851.
