Scope and Contents

Contains audio tapes and VHS video tapes. They contain recordings of performances which Mack Wilberg conducted, of a variety of choirs, including the BYU Mens and concert choirs, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square. Others are recordings of individual songs or pieces. Some home videos of birthday parties or family gatherings came from Mack Wilberg's personal papers, and are included in this series. Physical copies are in this series, the recordings have been captured and stored digitally as well.

Biographical History

From the Collection:

Dr. Mack Wilberg (born 1955) is a world renowned composer and director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Wilberg was raised in Castle Dale, Utah. He learned the piano and became a gifted clarinetist. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Korea and was part of a missionary vocal group called New Horizons. Wilberg attend Brigham Young University and received his bachelor's degree. He received his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern California. He became a professor at Brigham Young University and conducted the Concert Choir and Men's Chorus. In May 1999 Wilberg was appointed to associate director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Temple Square Chorale conductor. On March 28, 2008, he was appointed director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
