Scope and Contents
Materials contain a transcribed interview (1974) of Hershel E. Fansler regarding his service in the U.S. Army in Hawaii beginning in 1938. Fansler describes the lifestyle and athletics of Schofield Barracks, where he was raised and later stationed when he joined the Army. He describes experiencing the Japanese attack on Hawaii and the strafing from Japanese planes that occurred at his outfit. Contains two copied photographs. Dated 1975.
